The Sturgis Falls Celebration has deep roots in Cedar Falls, originating from the city’s 1976 Bicentennial Celebration. Named after William Sturgis, the town’s first settler, this annual event has evolved into a vibrant tradition bringing together community members and visitors alike. From its humble beginnings to becoming a hallmark celebration, Sturgis Falls has thrived thanks to the dedicated efforts of countless volunteers and organizations.
The March-Past is a proud Sturgis Falls Celebration tradition that showcases the energy, talent, and precision of marching bands from across the region. Held in conjunction with our annual parade, the March-Past offers bands the opportunity to perform before judges and spectators in a classic, time-honored format.

The Conference portion of the Sturgis Falls March-Past recognizes marching bands as they compete within classifications based on school or band size. This format ensures fair evaluation while allowing bands to showcase their talent alongside peers from similar programs.
The Sturgis Falls Concert is a highlight of the celebration, bringing together talented musicians for an exciting performance that showcases sound, skill, and showmanship. Following the March-Past, participating bands take the field to perform a concert-style presentation for judges and spectators.
